Stormwater Drains Raworth

Stormwater drains in Raworth carry roof and yard water away, and when one chokes the yard ponds and pits overflow. Our plumber in Raworth team jets the line clear, films it to find why it blocked, and quotes any repair. This page sits under the blocked drains hub.

How Can You Tell the Line Has Choked?

  • Water stands in the yard for a day or more after rain stops
  • A downpipe overflows at its base or bulges at the joint above ground
  • A pit fills during rain and stays full afterwards
  • Gutters spill at one corner even though they look clear
  • Silt fans out across paving from a grate after a storm

Clearing a Stormwater Line Step by Step

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4915 2998 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Flush and film

High-pressure water scours silt and leaf matter back to the pit, then the camera checks the pipe from pit to outlet.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

Where the camera finds roots through a joint, cutting out the roots comes next. A crushed or sagging section may suit pipe relining.

What Sets the Price of Stormwater Work?

Stormwater work is priced first on how much pipe has to be cleaned, then on:

  • The debris Because loose silt flushes out faster than roots matted with leaf litter
  • Pits and downpipe connections Each of which may need opening and cleaning
  • Damage found on camera Which is quoted separately if repair is needed

Stormwater on Raworth's Low Blocks

Flat yards near the floodplain

Raworth's estates sit low near the Hunter floodplain, raised above the regulated flood level but with little natural fall across many yards. Stormwater lines laid on such flat grades run slowly, so silt drops out and collects along the pipe floor.

Clay, silt and heavy storms

The reactive clay moves with the seasons and can open joints that let fine soil in. Add sharp summer storm cells across an average 902mm of yearly rain, and a partly silted line that copes with drizzle overflows in a downpour. Census figures count 715 dwellings here, with more lots opening off Morpeth Road, and every new roof adds water to its own line.

What Customers Say

[The team] have done an outstanding job at my mother's rental property. The area they worked on was particularly challenging, as it retained water and had become extremely muddy and boggy… The transformation has been remarkable.
Nandina

When we're not the right call: a blocked kerb inlet or a flooded road drain is part of the public system that Maitland's council maintains, so report it to them. If leaves are the problem before the water ever reaches the ground, gutter guard installs deal with it at the roofline.

Stormwater Questions Before You Book

Water sits at the bottom of my Raworth downpipe after rain. Why?

The downpipe drops into an underground line, and if that line is silted, crushed or full of roots, water backs up to the surface at the downpipe instead. A quick test with a hose tells us whether the line takes water; the camera then shows why it does not.

Can stormwater be connected into the sewer to fix ponding?

No. Roof and yard water must stay out of the sewer, because it overloads the sewer system in storms. The fix is a working stormwater line to the approved discharge point, which might mean clearing, relining or relaying the existing pipe.

Does the camera go down after a stormwater clear?

Yes. Once the jetter has the line running, the camera films it end to end. That shows whether the pipe has a sag holding water, a joint letting silt in, or roots starting, so you know whether the clear is the whole fix or the first step.

My whole street is under water. Can you help?

Not while it is a flood. When river or street water covers a neighbourhood, the SES handles it and private drains cannot shift it. Once the water drops, we can check your own lines for silt that came in with the flood and clear them.
